Sometimes a song begins with a plan. Sometimes it begins with an unexpected connection.

“Seized The Day” began with an instrumental I had just finished. After commenting on a song on SoundCloud, I got in touch with Steven Patrick from Georgia, USA, of the Steven Timothy Patrick Band.

How the collaboration began

I had just finished an instrumental and wondered whether Steven might be interested in turning it into a collaboration. I asked him if he would contribute lyrics and vocals.

Steven wrote the lyrics and contributed his vocals, and I incorporated them into the final production. What started with a simple SoundCloud connection became a finished Z CAR M collaboration.

Creating the sound

The recording was finalized on 5 November 2024 in the Philippines.

The instrumental grew out of my usual way of working — experimenting with different sounds until something suddenly gives me an idea for a song. For this track, I used sounds including Underground Reservoir Tank, Crypt Bass, Tension and Metallic Bell Atmosphere.

I have always loved mysterious sounds, and that atmosphere is an important part of “Seized The Day.”

From an instrumental to a collaboration

I had just finished an instrumental and asked Steven if he would be interested in contributing his vocals and lyrics. He agreed, wrote the lyrics and recorded his vocals, which I then incorporated into the final production.

What began as a simple connection through SoundCloud became a collaboration between two musicians from different places.

What I like about “Seized The Day”

I have always loved mysterious sounds, and that is something I hear in this track. But what I like most about “Seized The Day” today is the combination of my music with Steven’s vocals.

The song is also part of my 11th Z CAR M album, simply called “Album 11”.
